It’s impossible to prevent aging, but we can make sure we age gracefully. Healthy food choices, exercise and getting enough sleep are some of the most important steps to slow the aging process and maintain good health. When it comes to our skin, there’s more we can do. And some of the most effective treatments are quite affordable and can be prepared at home.
Here are some great facial masks that can prevent wrinkles and smooth out existing ones, made only with natural ingredients:
Honey & Sandalwood oil mask
Mix 1 egg white, 1 tablespoon of honey, 4 drops of fennel essential oil (reduces wrinkles and raises elastin levels in the skin) and 4 drops of essential sandalwood oil (firms the connective tissue).
Mix 1 tablespoon of organic cocoa powder (protects against free radicals), 1 pureed banana (nourishes the skin), 1 tablespoon of honey (promotes hydration) and 4 drops of essential rose oil (smooths out wrinkles and regenerates skin cells).
Mix 3 tablespoons of Spirulina powder (contains valuable minerals that support skin hydration), 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel (sustains the skin’s collagen production) and 4 drops of essential fennel oil (improves skin elasticity and smooths out wrinkles).
Tips and tricks
Clean the skin thoroughly before applying any mask. The mask should be left on for 20 minutes. Apply the mask not just on face and neck, but also on cleavage. Avoid the eyes and surrounding areas. If you want, you can also apply cotton disks soaked in fennel or chamomile tea on your eyes while you have the mask on.
For a greater efficiency, apply the mask three time a week. When you try a mask for the first time, it’s recommended you first test if you’re allergic to it. Apply a small quantity of the mask on an arm or leg and leave it on for 20 minutes to see if you develop any allergic reactions.
