Every woman wants a beautiful, luminous skin, but sometimes despite our best efforts some problems persist. A common issue is the presence of unattractive dark circles. Having dark circles can be very frustrating and also force us to wear more make-up than we’d like. Here are a few simple tips to help you forget about that under eye concealer!
Why do dark circles appear?
There are several reasons why you might develop those unappealing black circles under your eyes, the first one being genetic heritage. It’s more likely that people with thin or fair under eye skin will have dark circles. Due to poor circulation, most often from insufficient sleep the blood accumulates there, causing capillaries to expand and blood to seep out. The under eye skin also thins as we age, since it gradually loses collagen.
Allergies are another factor since the release of histamines from an allergic reaction inflames blood vessels making them swell. If you have one or more allergies consider taking anti-histamine medication before trying to reduce your dark circles, which are just the symptom of your condition.
Simple tricks to get rid of dark circles
This works particularly well for people that have dark under eye circles from genetic legacy. Simply rub a slice of lemon on the affected areas. Be careful so lemon juice doesn’t get in your eyes, the sensation is quite unpleasant.
This is an old but very effective remedy: potatoes contain an enzyme that lights the skin. That’s why they are such a great way to reduce eye circles. So how do you use them?
Apply one thin potato slice under each eye and leave them on for 10-30 minutes (depending on how much time you have). Results do appear even at first use, but for significant improvement you can use potato slices as a long-term treatment and do this routine 1-2 times per day.
Tomato juice has mild bleaching properties, so it can also be used to lighten the skin (including the dark under eye area). You can use it both internally and externally. Combine equal parts of oatmeal (which also has a lightening effect on skin) and tomato juice and apply under your eyes.
Leave it on for about 20 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. You can repeat this routine 2-3 times a day.
This can also be used regularly to get lighter skin around your eyes. Also, almond oil will moisturize the area and reduce wrinkle appearance. If you don’t have any almond oil you can also make a paste out of finely ground almonds and milk instead.
This is one of the most popular remedies for dark circles and for good reason. Cucumbers can efficiently lighten the under eye skin, but also reduce puffiness and irritation.
Apply a thin slice of cucumber on each eye and leave on for 10 minutes. This is a great routine to perform in the morning!
