Simple home remedies for irritated skin

Whether from wind, cold, a cosmetic product, or other causes, nobody wants the discomfort and unattractive look caused by irritated skin. Using makeup to hide the flaws is also not the best solution since it can often worsen things.

Here are some simple and accessible home remedies that you can find in your kitchen and use as effective treatments for skin irritation.

Home-made recipes for skin masks

Egg yolk

Dairy mask

Ingredients: 1 tsp heavy cream, 1 tsp plain yoghurt, 1 egg yolk.

Mix the ingredients, apply the resulted paste on the face & neck and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse with luke-warm water and apply a moisturizer on the clean face.

Honey mask

Ingredients: 1 tsp honey, 100 ml milk, 3 tsp dry chamomile.

Place the chamomile in the milk and let it soak for 30 minutes. Filter the milk and add the honey. Apply the mixture onto the face or affected areas and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with luke-warm water. This treatment can be used 2-3 times a week.

Cottage cheese

Cottage cheese mask

Ingredients: 1 tbs cottage cheese, a few fresh parsley leaves.

Finely chop the parsley and mix it with the cottage cheese until it becomes creamy. Apply it on the face or affected skin areas for 25-30 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Carrot mask

Ingredients: 1 large carrot, 1 cup of whole-fat yogurt.

You will need the juice of the carrot. For that you can use a juicer or a blender (and use a hand strainer to get the clean juice). Mix the juice with the yoghurt and apply it onto the affected areas for 15-20 minutes. For an enhanced effect you can use warm milk to rinse the face instead of water.

Boiled potatoes

Potato mask

Ingredients: 1 medium-sized potato (boiled), 1 tbs milk, 1 tbs olive oil.

Thoroughly mash the potato and mix it with the rest of the ingredients. Apply on face, leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Note: If your skin is irritated due to a health condition, these treatments will be useless, if not damaging. If that is your case, we recommend seeing a dermatologist before trying any of these remedies.
